This event was led by Marisa Solange, a Kriola and fashion professional who was born in Cabo Verde and residing in Rotterdam, Netherlands!
Marisa Solange, a Kriola living in Rotterdam, Netherlands brought fashion and unity to Cabo Verde in a unique event in Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde. Solange Marisa worked hard to turn her dream into a reality in 2019. The event took place in São Vicente, Cabo Verde on August 17th.
“We have this event in Holland where we help out young designers," Marisa told Ranja CV, "But my dream was to help out my own”.
Marisa assisted the designers by donating fabric so they can start their collection. She led the planning and execution of the event, which took place at Sunset Martini in São Vicente.
Fashion Day Out was a huge success. This video gives us a glimpse into the magic that took place on that day. Marisa said that next year she hopes to partner with more organizations and businesses. Marisa hopes to continue this event and have it serve as a Cabo Verdean tradition. It is so beautiful to see Cabo Verdeans uplifting Cabo Verdeans. That is what Ranja CV is all about. And that is what Cabo Verdeans are all about!

The Power of Collaboration. The Magic of Cabo Verdean
It is so important for us to remember that Cabo Verde has so much magic. Our country has so much to offer, so much to give. We are a country of talent, creativity, and incredible community values. The work of Cabo Verdeans in Cabo Verde should be showcased at a global scale, and if we come together as a Diaspora, we can uplift each other and collaborate in ways that really do shine a light on the magic of our beautiful country of Cabo Verde!
Marisa decided she wanted to collaborate with Cabo Verdean artists, designers, event planners, DJs, and community members. She did so in a way that showcased our talents and provided a fun opportunity for Cabo Verdeans to get together for a worthy cause.
It is so encouraging to know that we have Cabo Verdeans like Marisa who believe in cross-country collaboration and who see the potential and the actual talent in the people of Cabo Verde as well as the diaspora as a whole. We could not be more proud! Thank you Marisa for creating a vision and making it happen for the Cabo Verdean community.
